How to make simple drop earings ?

Drop earrings are the easiest earrings to make. You can make them classy with semiprecious stones and silver wire or funky by adding charms and beads.

All you need for a set of basic earrings is some beads of your choice, two headpins or eyepins and two earwires. Spacer beads are also useful. These are very small metal-colored beads that serve to frame the other beads. If you don't have headpins, you can just bend the end of regular wire in a loop to make your own eyepins.

When you make drop earings with a head pin, always arrange the beads off the head pin before you start to make earrings. By getting the combination correct before you have made them, you can ensure that you won't have to waste head pins by remaking ones you want to improve.
Drop earrings using a head-pin looks good when you have beads of different sizes . When you make drop earrings with the head pin, start with the widest bead at the bottom, and work your way up.

1. Find a Head Pin : Head pins have flat heads on the bottom, and are available in different sizes and thicknesses.

2. Add Beads: Put some beads on the head pin. Experiment with different colors and styles. In this picture, spacer beads are used to break up the colored beads.

3. Once all the beads are on the head pin, leave half an inch of the head pin exposed and cut off the remaining metal with the cutting edge of the pliers.

4.  Begin Loop: Use a pair of round-nose pliers to bend the head-pin 90º.

5.Finish Loop: Bend the end of the head pin over to complete the loop. Add a french-wire or other earring finding and you're finished

6. Repeat the steps to make earrings that are a matching pair .

Add different beads to achieve different looks. Try adding several drops to one earring by attaching them to a charm or wire structure. Or, add a charm to the bottom of a drop earring.
